Constantly Improving your Self - Talk!
I sat with a co-worker in my car today and she is the kind of person who likes to put herself down in a humbling gesture whenever she thinks that she is bad at something. And I asked her, "Why do you do that?" And she asked, "What?" I said, "Put yourself down?" She asked, "What do you mean?"
I told her that she was making negative comments about her abilities and for the last ten minutes in the car we had been having a great conversation, but each time the subject of computers came up, she said "And I know I'm stupid on computers but..."
She turned to me and said, "I didn't even realize I was doing it."
And that proves two things:
1) People are generally not aware that Self-Talk exists and therefore 2) People do not even realize how important Self-Talk is to their lives.
Self-Talk is all the things someone says to themself as they go through their day. For instance, if you look in the mirror and say, "Wow, I'm good looking!" Then you may be a little conceited (ha ha), but you are also practicing positive Self-Talk. And by the same token, if you look in the mirror and state, "I am so ugly." Then you are practicing negative Self-Talk.
Positive Self-Talk is so important and most people ignore the concept of Self-Talk completely. I believe that you should listen to the people in your life talk to you today, and see how many of them say positive and negative things about themselves.
Observe the actions, posture, style, socialness, and overall mannerisms of everyone you meet today and you will realize that Self-Talk really makes a difference in people's lives. Those who speak positively of themselves (and others) are usually the ones who are smarter, nicer, and who have better posture and lots of friends. Those who speak ill of themselves (and others) often try to be alone, slink off on their own, or bully others. Which one would you rather be?
After you observe as many people as possible throughout your day, go home and start to look at yourself in the mirror and find positive things to say about yourself. If you can't find any, start with this one: "Wow, I'm smart because I looked found an article today, took the time to read it, and I am trying to practice what I learned. I am smart because I am willing to try new things and focus on improving myself!"

I'm glad someone has taken the time to go into detail on this subject. All I have seen up to this point is very shallow writings. I can use this.

Im impressed, I need to say. Really not often do I encounter a weblog thats both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you could have hit the nail on the head. Your thought is excellent; the problem is something that not enough individuals are talking intelligently about. I am very blissful that I stumbled throughout this in my search for something relating to this.
