Crisis or Opportunity?
About all you hear or read in the news these days is "crisis". Fear is the strongest weapon used against people. Sometimes we create our own fear, sometimes outside influences do. The media and government seem to delight in stirring up fear amongst the people.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying everything is just fine in the world. It's not. Before you decide to sell everything because you think it's the end of the world, stop and ask yourself a few questions:
1. Am I healthy?
2. Is my family healthy?
3. Do I have a job?
4. Is anyone shooting at me?
5. Am I sleeping on the ground?
I tell people that if they think something sucks (like their job, their relationships, the state of affairs), then it sucks. If they think it's good, then guess what, it's pretty good. There are many things that you and I cannot control. Your attitude is one thing that you can definitely control.
Each time something like the current economic downturn has occurred, we have come out of it stronger than before. As it turns out, one person's crisis is another person's opportunity.
Now is the time to assess where you are and where you are going. Take advantage of the fact that the majority of people are glued to the TV and feeding their minds with negative words and images. Use this time to grow and focus on the opportunities that await. While most everyone is looking down, you can move ahead by looking up. And smile at the people you meet...
