Who You Know or What You Know?

LinkedIn had a poll running today and the question was, which is more important regarding business?
1. Who You Know
2. What You Know
3. What You Drive
4. Other
As many of you can probably guess, WHO you know was the top choice.


This leads me to the topic of networking, which I will be covering next week after I interview Scott Ingram, CEO for Network in Austin. Scott will be bringing his insight into networking, so check back next week!

Thanks for your comment. No doubt, who knows YOU is very important. Reputation is, and has always been, important. I believe this is paramount in an age where it is easy to find information on almost anyone in an instant. Having connections that you know / trust and vice versa is so important.

Excellent question. There is no doubt that many highly educated and intelligent people worked at the top financial institutions on Wall St. They were very creative, too. Maybe too creative. As said by others, just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.
I agree that there is a lack of leadership in US business and government. That said, we are probably hearing about the 20% that caused 80% of the problem. I am convinced that there are solid leaders around, we just don't hear about them.
