Communication
Sending the right message to your boss
Find out what your boss likes and dislikes. Then try to give them any information you want in the way they want to receive it. For instance, if you boss only seems to care about making and saving money for the business, give all of your ideas an economic spin. As in, if you want to upgrade your phone system, find a comany which will save you money and pitch it to your boss as a "money-saving" idea. That will surely get his or her attention. Even if they don't completely go for the idea.
Give your boss what he needs, not what he wants!
If you are a leader at work, there is always a conflict when you think there is a difference between what your boss needs and what he wants. I have found that there is a very easy solution. You give the boss what he wants, while suggesting changes to the process and explain the good reasons for the alterations. You can't be frustrated if the boss says, "I see what you're saying but I want it done this way." If that's the answer, regroup and readdress the issue at a later date when he/she might be more receptive.
Want To Have Credibility As A Leader?
Patience is a Skill Set!
Waiting for change is the worst part of leadership... If you expect everything to change at once, many times you wil breed resentment from your team. Gradual change that makes sense will bring a team together. It is the differene between the "My way or the highway" mentality and "teamwork" approach to leadership.
Tips to Avoiding Conflicts at Work
Every Leader has, at some point, had to resolve a conflict with a co-worker or team member. It is part of being a Leader. You can't always be right, and you can't always explain your decisions to every member of the team at every moment to ensure that you don't "hurt people's feelings" as you go through your busy work day. But there are some things that Leaders can do that will gain their team's and their boss's respect.

Have you ever said something you didn't mean in the heat of a discussion or argument? Well, what if those words were written for all to see on a public wall somewhere. Wouldn't you be embarrassed? Wouldn't you wish you could take those words back?
